Victim of Fatal Wheaton Collision is Identified
Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are continuing to investigate a fatal collision that occurred on Friday April 2, at approximately 5:54 a.m., in the 4300 block of Randolph Road in Wheaton.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as Shu Bing Huang, age 49, of the 12600 block of Viers Mill Road in Rockville.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a black Nissan Versa was driving eastbound on Viers Mill Road at Gridley Road.
The vehicle passed through the intersection at Gridley Road, and was approaching Randolph Road when, for unknown reasons, it veered to the right.
The vehicle jumped the curb, struck two newspaper dispensers, traveled through the grass, and off the curb.
It then traveled into the parking lot of the Dunkin Donuts and struck an adult female pedestrian.
The vehicle continued out of the parking lot, traveled across eastbound Randolph Road and struck a blue Ford Fusion.
The vehicle then traveled onto and came to rest in a residential front yard in the 4300 block of Randolph Road.
The driver of the Nissan was identified as Thomas Rankin, age 79, of the 15200 block of Red Clover Drive in Rockville. He was transported to Walter Reed Hospital for a check-up and has been released.
The driver of the Ford was identified as Paul Kriedman, age 47, of the 12100 block of Portree Drive in Rockville. He was not injured.
