Make a difference in your community by helping middle school students at Buck lodge Middle School with academic tutoring and homework assistance. Support the students in their transition from 8th to 9th grade. Become an AmeriCorps Member, help organize and provide academic support for the youth, while learning workforce skills, earn an education award for future higher education or have the option to pay off existing higher-education (debt). Member Responsibility: • Assist AmeriCorps Program Specialist in proving tutoring and homework assistant to middle school students.• Help, organize, implement and facilitate recreational activities, and academic workshops.• Help coordinate all afterschool activities. • Plans, organizes and participates in all community projects and fundraising activities.• Participates as member in all meetings• Responsible for collecting and entering data and timely reporting. Special Conditions: 1. Flexibility: Willingness to work afternoons, evenings, nights, and weekends.2. Successful completion of a criminal background check.3. Strong writing skills4. Ability to work as part of a team and individually.5. Some travel necessary. AmeriCorps members serve full-time and part-time positions for one year with varying work hours and receive a modest living allowance, health insurance, an education award. Only full-time members receive health insurance benefits. MMYC-LP will provide skills training opportunities to build your resume and work portfolio, and a staff throughout the year that will support and guide you.
