GALA Theater Asks fot Support
As a National Center for Latino Arts, and as the cultural anchor of Columbia Heights, GALA has championed the revitalization of our neighborhood and created award-winning youth education programs and Helen Hayes nominated productions through the support of individuals like you!
Your support has turned a $840,000 construction loan used to build the beautiful theatre you see today, into a balance of less than $25,000. With your support we can pay off this loan by the end of the summer. Every dollar you donate can not only pay off the loan, but help us secure and expand and enhance our youth programs and productions!
Your support means GALita’s new bilingual puppet play, Fabulas Mayas can tour to underserved public schools; Your support means underwriting 2 student matinees for La Señorita de Tacna by Nobel Prize Winner Mario Vargas Llosa; Your support means housing guest artists for Cabaret Barroco – Interludes of Spain’s Golden Age.
Your support means the acquisition of new sound equipment that will enhance the presentation of our popular Fuego Flamenco Festival and provide other arts and community groups using our space with a well-equipped performance venue. As you can see your support can help us do so much! Please consider making a donation today to help keep our cultural heritage alive!
You can support GALA as part of the Do More 24, a 24-hour online crowd funding campaign of the United Way, beginning at 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, and ending at 11:59 p.m. To donate on today or tomorrow, click here.
