Maryland Delegate Ana Sol Gutiérrez Files to Run for Re-Election in 2014
CHEVY CHASE, Maryland.- Today [December 16] delegate Ana Sol Gutiérrez formally filed as a candidate for re-election for her 4th term representing District 18* in the Maryland House of Delegates at the Maryland State Board of Elections.
“I appreciate the interest and encouragement I have received from many friends and supporters in making this important decision. It is indeed an honor to have the opportunity to seek to continue to represent the best interests of my constituents and the residents of Montgomery County as well as the State of Maryland”, she said.
“After 20 years of public service, first serving for 8 years on the Montgomery County Board of Education, followed by almost 12 years in the Maryland House of Delegates, I have had the great fortune of learning through experience about the value of good government. By promoting and establishing progressive public policies, there is no doubt that positive change can result for our communities, especially for those most in need, and those who do not have a voice”, she added.
Sol Gutierrez also said that she value the experience elected office at the local and state levels has given her to “learn-by-doing” about complex policy issues: education, health, social justice, the economy, wages/jobs, immigration reform, and other key areas of public policy.
“There is still much work to be done in all these areas to ensure greater opportunities for all, and to reduce disparities between those who have and those who don’t. So let’s get to work”, she concluded.
