Maryland Hispanic Achievement Scholarship

The Montgomery County Executive Hispanic Gala has awarded over $400,000 in scholarships to more than 200 talented young students over the last 4 years. Here are the stories of two of our amazing scholars:

Alejandra Sarmiento (2014 Scholar) is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Neurosciences at the University of Maryland. She is also a research associate for The Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute (MTECH) in their Biopharmaceutical Advancement Facility. Alejandra says, “thanks to the Maryland Hispanic Achievement Scholarship I was able to excel in my education and discover many opportunities.”

Doron Tadmor (2016 Scholar) is pursuing a BS in Business with a double major in International Business and Finance, and a double minor in Spanish and Technology Entrepreneurship, at the University of Maryland.Over this past Winter, he participated in a study abroad program at the University of Cape Town in South Africa where he learned about social entrepreneurship, but also a lot about himself. Doron says, “I thank the Maryland Hispanic Achievement Scholarship for allowing me to focus less on the cost of school and more on what I am passionate about and what I can make a difference in.”

We are so proud of our scholars! Help us to spread the word and encourage more students to apply online for this year’s scholarship. The application is available through June 30, 2017.
