Cart.com Appoints Gary Specter as President, Go-To-Market

Former Adobe and Magento Executive to Drive Company’s International Growth

AUSTIN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Cart.com, which enables retail brands to quickly scale their businesses and easily sell across every channel, today announced that it has appointed Gary Specter as President, Go-To-Market, effective April 27, 2022. Specter is a global sales and revenue executive with more than two decades of experience leading and scaling high-performance teams at companies that include Adobe, Magento, IBM and NetSuite. Reporting directly to CEO Omair Tariq, Specter will own all revenue responsibilities and support Cart.com, one of the nation’s fastest-growing technology companies, as it scales its sales reach internationally.

“Our business has accelerated significantly over the past 12 months and Gary’s global sales and revenue expertise will help us continue that momentum and expand our reach globally,” said Omair Tariq, CEO and Co-founder of Cart.com. “He’s a proven leader and strategist who shares our commitment to our partner brands’ success and we couldn’t be more pleased to welcome him to our leadership team as we embark on our next stage of growth.”

Cart.com provides the entire infrastructure brands need to sell everywhere and scale infinitely. The company’s suite of solutions frees brands from having to cobble together solutions from dozens of software and services vendors, so they can focus on their product and customer relationships.

Specter’s appointment follows a year of milestone achievements for Cart.com, including more than 400% growth in revenue and the closing of a $240 million funding round in February 2022. Cart.com processed more than $3 billion in gross merchandise value (GMV) in the 12 months ended February and grew its global team to more than 1,400 employees, who serve a growing roster of nearly 6,000 brands.

“Brands looking to scale their e-commerce businesses have historically had to partner with potentially dozens of tech and service providers that didn’t allow them to keep control of their brand, customer experience or data,” said Specter. “Cart.com has built an alternative—a comprehensive solution that puts power back into the hands of brands—in record time by executing a bold growth strategy of its own. I’m thrilled to join Omair and the rest of the Cart.com team at this crucial moment to help expand the business globally.”

Specter joins Cart.com from Adobe, where he most recently served as VP, Growth, Digital Experience Business, leading the division’s 800 employees and managing sales, business development and customer care teams. Prior to that, he served as Adobe’s VP, Global Commercial Business, and as VP, Commerce Sales & Customer Success, Digital Experience Business. He joined Adobe in 2018 via its acquisition of Magento, where he had served as SVP, Global Sales and Customer Success. His earlier experience includes roles as VP of Sales at NetSuite, Worldwide Sales Leader for Commerce Solutions at IBM, Chief Revenue Officer of Baynote, and Account Executive at SAP. He holds a BBA in Business Administration, Marketing, from the Anderson School of Management at The University of New Mexico.
