The DC Latino Caucus is partnering with the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, to host a candidate forum in preparation for the April 3 primary election.
The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is supporting the Candidate Forum with community outreach, small business participation and the provision of simultaneous translation in English and Spanish. The Chamber will not participate in the endorsement of any candidates.
On Saturday, March 10, candidates will be asked on a wide range of questions including public safety, health and their position on the DREAM Act, a bill that would allow the children of undocumented immigrants who have lived in the United States for at least five years, graduated from high school, and are of good moral character the opportunity to earn citizenship through college attendance or military service.
Candidates in the following races have been invited and confirmed: Delegate to U.S. Congress, Majority Party At-Large Member of the DC City Council, Wards 2, 4, 5, 7, 8 members of the DC City Council, Shadow U.S. Representative, Shadow U.S. Senator.
The DC Latino Caucus serves as a channel for the participation and involvement of Latinos in civic engagement and political activities within the greater Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area.
