MINNEAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–BrucePac, a third-party supplier of chicken, has initiated a recall of certain products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. As a result, Bellisio Foods, Inc. (“Bellisio”) is voluntarily recalling specific products from its Boston Market, Michelina’s, and Atkins brands that contain chicken sourced from BrucePac. This voluntary recall is being conducted out of an abundance of caution to ensure the health and safety of our consumers.
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause serious and potentially life-threatening infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Symptoms in otherwise healthy individuals may include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. In pregnant women, Listeria monocytogenes infection can result in miscarriages or stillbirths.
The affected products were distributed nationwide.
Bellisio Foods has immediately ceased the use of all ingredients from BrucePac’s impacted facility. Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are advised not to consume them. These products can be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund or properly discarded.
