Comcast Brings Viewers Closer to the Candidates with “Presidential Forum ON DEMAND”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Comcast announced the arrival of Presidential Forum ON DEMAND, a 90 minute program taped at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s (CHCI) 2007 Public Policy Conference. The conference served as a signature event during CHCI’s 30th Anniversary celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The forum will be available ON DEMAND to Comcast Digital cable customers throughout the Washington Metro area.

Produced locally by CN8, The Comcast Network, the forum features presidential hopefuls Sens. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Joseph Biden (D-Del.), Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH-10), as well as former Sen. Mike Gravel (D-Alaska), discussing issues that impact the nation’s Hispanic communities. All presidential candidates were invited to the forum, which was moderated by José Díaz-Balart, co-anchor of Telemundo Network’s Cada Día morning program, and sponsored by AARP, the Access to Capital Coalition, National Council of La Raza (NCLR), National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC).

“Comcast is pleased to provide our customers, particularly in our growing Hispanic customer base, with a means to learn more about candidates’ views on issues most important to their everyday lives,” said Curt Pendleton, regional senior vice president for Comcast’s Potomac Region.

Presidential Forum ON DEMAND is provided free of charge to Comcast Digital Cable customers and can be accessed from the “Get Local” category of the ON DEMAND menu by selecting “Campaign ’08,” then “America’s Next President.”

“It is critical for Latinos to hear directly from the presidential candidates on their vision for the future of this country,” said Esther Aguilera, CHCI President and CEO. “We are thrilled that Comcast shares our commitment to an educated and civically active Latino community.”

Across its footprint, Comcast is committed to providing customers access to relevant local political programming. Throughout Metro Washington, Comcast offers a variety of programming options that speak to the area’s political presence and history, including Candidates ON DEMAND, featuring more than 100 interviews with candidates for Virginia’s Senate, Assembly and select County Board of Supervisors elections and Comcast’s Death of a President program which featured nine highlight packages of special footage from President Gerald R. Ford’s memorial services and eulogies.

Comcast’s Eastern Division leads the way with ‘Get Local’ ON DEMAND programming, providing hundreds of hours of local content geared specifically to local audiences. ‘Get Local’ is reshaping how customers connect with their communities, offering support and visibility to local political and civic leaders, plus area organizations, schools and teams.
