Who:     Colectivo Tonantzin, members of National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) and allied organizations, local community, the AZ based Puente Movement, Immigrant Rights Leaders.

What:    Protest of Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Appearance in Southern California

Where:     The Phoenix Club, 1340 S Sanderson Ave, Anaheim, CA 92806

When:  Thursday, November 5th, 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm

Why:    Joe Arpaio being honored at fundraiser by Orange County Sheriff

candidate Richard Mack.  Arpaio is widely acknowledged as the “Bull

Connor” of our generation.

His scapegoating of immigrants and Latinos and his policies that

criminalize them have earned him notoriety and fame, particularly among

the extreme anti-immigrant groups.  His policies and practices have

resulted in widespread civil rights violations and racial profiling.

Most recently, he has become a symbol for the Department of Homeland

Security (DHS) 287(g) program which deputizes police as immigration

enforcement agents.  Orange County is currently considering signing a

new 287(g) agreement with DHS.  Protestors will urge Orange County to

rescind its contract with DHS.
