Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association Celebrates the Second Annual Summit

New York, NY (CapitalWirePR) – The Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association (LISTA) will host its 2nd Annual Emerging Technology Leadership Summit, themed “Technology Leadership: Now and in the Future,” at the Marriott Marquis in New York on Tuesday, December 8, 2009.

The Summit will bring forward respected thought leaders in the field of science and technology for a daylong conference focused on providing small business owners, technology professionals, analysts and executives alike with intensive information on the changing tides of technology. In addition to a CEO Brain-trust Forum, prominent topic areas to be discussed during workshop panels include:

·      Social media and its impact on corporate strategy ·     Health care technology and the debate over reforming medical records

·     Leadership for the Year 2030, celebrating entrepreneurs in technology and science

·     Bringing broadband to all of America

“We are thrilled to be hosting the Summit back in the city where it all began,” says Jose A. Marquez, President and CEO of LISTA, who founded the organization in 2001 in New York. “This city enjoys a high-concentration of Hispanic-owned businesses as well as a strong technology sector. The combination provides for an ideal climate for all parties to benefit from.”

The summit will also feature the Techno Centro 2030 Career Expo, a networking event designed to bring together Latino professionals with some of the nation’s premier science and technology recruiters, including those from Fortune 500 businesses, technology sales leaders and firms.

Attendees should take note that many recruiters will be conducting on-site interviews with professionals whose experience and education align with their needs and interests. Companies confirmed for the Career Expo include Aetna, AT&T, Staples Verizon, State Farm, Comcast, Enhanced Communications and many others.

“We want professionals attending our event to walk away with new ideas, methods, guidelines and procedures to help them develop their talents and set goals for professional development,” said Eduardo Gonzalez-Loumiet, President of the LISTA North Florida Chapter and Chair of this year’s Summit.

The Summit will conclude with the National Latino Technology and Achiever Awards honoring individuals who are shaping the next frontier of science and technology. Last year, the Gala was attended by more than 500 guests from a cross sector of technology and science industries and celebrated Latino technology professionals’ commitment to excellence through their own abilities, efforts and initiatives.

“The Gala is a national acknowledgement that increases the visibility of our young professionals and future leaders of Corporate America,” says Marquez. “This Gala serves as a platform to highlight their efforts toward the advancement of Latino Technology Professionals in the United States and helps showcase Latinos in technology. “
