Sanders’ State of the Union Response Draws Nearly 2 Million Views

WASHINGTON, Jan. 31 – Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-Vt.) response to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address last night was viewed 1.9 million times across social media platforms.

Sanders’ response was broadcast live Tuesday night on his Facebook, YouTube and Twitter pages, and was also streamed by progressive digital outlets The Young Turks and NowThis.

“I want to take a few minutes of your time to respond to President Trump’s State of the Union speech. But I want to do more than just that. I want to talk to you about the major crises facing our country that, regrettably, President Trump chose not to discuss. I want to talk to you about the lies that he told during his campaign and the promises he made to working people which he did not keep,” Sanders said in his speech.

The live address came one week after Sanders hosted a national town hall on Medicare for All, which drew 1.1 million live viewers and was also streamed exclusively on social media.
