PHOENIX, AZ – Erika Andiola, an undocumented youth and national immigration activist, has been arrested after she refused to move when Phoenix Police sought to disband families who were in a hunger strike.
The families have been fasting for over a week were on a hunger strike to call on immigration authorities to release their loved ones.
More than 1,100 people are deported every day, and President Obama nears a grim two million deportations. About 41 percent of those deported were parents and workers with no prior criminal record.
This unabated and arbitrary enforcement is creating a crisis of family separation, with millions of American citizens in mixed-status families being affected. Dreamers, like Erika Andiola, are fighting back and now risking arrest.
