Hispanic Caucus Should Not Let the Administration off the Hook on Substance and Timing

Dreamers Call on the CHC to Demand of the President he Act Bold and Timely.

Washington, DC – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus announced that it will proceed with a resolution calling on the President to act on immigration. Erika Andiola & Cesar Vargas, Co-Directors of the DREAM Action Coalition, issued the following statement:

» The Congressional Hispanic Caucus should ensure the resolution aims to keep the pressure on the President to act as boldly and timely as possible. This means that Latino Democrats must stand up and remind the President not to dilute any action he may take and meet with those affected, as well as condemning the Administration for breaking Obama’s promise to the Latino community.

The Hispanic Caucus should fight for self-respect and the respect of our communities as the White House and national Democrats keep demonstrating that they will only support Latinos when it’s convenient, regardless of the needs of mixed-status families. Rather than become a tool for the White House, the CHC should be a force to push the administration to keep its promises.

Latinos around the country are intensely angry with not only the White House, but also at Democrats, mainly because they rather protect their Party rather than their people.”
