They were accompanying the nomination of Argentine film Wild Tales at the 87th Oscar Academy Awards.
Wild Tales’ film director Damián Szifrón and the producers gathered at the Argentine Consulate in Los Angeles, together with the President of the National Institute of Film and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA), the Argentine Ambassador to the United States and the Consul General
In a tribute to Argentine films and the team from the movie Wild Tales and its nomination to the 2015 Oscar Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, a meeting was held at the Consul General’s residence, in the city of Los Angeles, few days ago.
The President of INCAA, Lucrecia Cardoso, the Argentine Ambassador to the United States, Cecilia Nahón; the Consul General in Los Angeles, Alejandro Casiró; the director Damián Szifrón, the producers Matias Mosteirin, Agustín Almodóvar and Esther García; several members of the film’s production team and members from Sony Pictures Classic attended the event.
Representatives of the city’s film and artistic industry, leaders of the cultural environment, as well as the academic and economic sector, members of the local consular corps and the Argentine community were also present.
Also present at the event was Argentine scriptwriter Armando Bo, who together with Nicolás Giacobone –also from Argentina- received a nomination for Best Script for the movie Birdman, which has already received an award for Best Script at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards.
These nominations and awards add to the recognition and nomination of Wild Tales, as a clear manifestation of the excellent times that the Argentine film industry is going through, that celebrates jointly both the public and private sector, in the eve of the Oscar Award Academy.
In Ambassador Nahón’s words “this movie, seen by almost 7 million viewers throughout the world, is a reflection of Argentine talent and creativity, as well as of growing development of our country’s audiovisual industry”.
The President of the INCAA, highlighted the “nomination Wild Tales as an example of what Argentine films have to offer the world”.
The Director Damián Szifrón thanked all attendees for their presence and for the opportunity to share this important moment.
Wild Tales, an Argentine-Spanish co-production written and directed by Damián Szifrón, portrays six black comedy-drama short stories,written and directed by Damián Szifrón. Its cast includes renowned theater, film and television actors. Among them, Ricardo Darín, Oscar Martínez, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Erica Rivas, Rita Cortese, Julieta Zylberberg and Dario Grandinetti. The film participated in more than 15 international film festivals, including those of Toronto, Telluride, London and San Sebastián, among others.
This event in the city of Los Angeles completes a series of promotional activities that included the previous presentation of the movie in Los Angeles, at the Lincoln Center in New York and an avant-premiere in the city of Washington, at the same time the movie received the 2015 Goya award as best foreign film in Spanish language.
This Friday, February 20, were the awaited film Wild Tales premieres in the United States.
