John McCain’s Leadership on Immigration Will Be Missed

NEW YORK, NY — Just a few moments ago news broke that U.S. Senator John McCain, war hero and legislative titan, died from brain cancer. Cesar Vargas, immigration attorney and co-director of the Dream Action Coalition, issued the following statement:

«I had the honor of meeting and speaking with Senator McCain throughout the various legislative fights on immigration reform. Each time, he spoke with integrity despite the policy differences between us. Much will be written about him, but Senator McCain will be remembered by Dreamers and activists as a voice of leadership and reason on immigration. Let’s hope his legacy can compel the Senate to finally pass immigration reform and reignite the spark of the American Dream for generations to come.”
