New Capability Enhances Wearable Health Monitoring During Movement
MALVERN, Pa.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#Healthcare–Rajant Health Incorporated (RHI), a leader in AI-supporting healthcare solutions, Edge Computing, and no-code innovations for omics analysis, is thrilled to announce the granting of a new patent for its groundbreaking Parallel Adaptive Motion Artifact Removal technology (US Application Number 18/171,180). This latest achievement marks a significant leap in capabilities for wearable health monitoring, addressing a critical challenge to reduce “motion artifacts” and more accurately compute vital sign measurements during movement. It ushers in a new era of reliability for healthcare providers, patients, and even industrial applications where real-time health and wellness data is key.
This patented technology enhances wearable devices like smartwatches by cleaning up photoplethysmography (PPG) signals disrupted by movement, such as during exercise. It uses adaptive filters working together to remove noise caused by device shifts, guided by a motion sensor. These filters use data from various IMU sensors to identify and reduce the noise. Furthermore, the system refines heart rate estimates with advanced processing, achieving accuracy within 2 beats per minute, even during intense activity. During trials, it delivered an average error of just 1.12 beats per minute, matching the precision of finger-worn sensors. This innovation improves healthcare monitoring and supports industrial applications like tracking worker health, safety, and wellness in active and hazardous settings.
“This patent is a testament to the ingenuity and dedication of our team at Rajant Health,” said Robert Schena, CEO of RHI. “By solving the motion artifact challenge, we’re empowering healthcare professionals with more precise vital sign data and opening doors for industrial applications where safety and efficiency depend on real-time insights. It’s a proud moment that reinforces our mission to transform healthcare technology.”
Jack Mountney, DSP Engineer at RHI, the inventor and key contributor to the patent shares “I’m excited to see this technology come to life! The CPC architecture we developed takes wearable health monitoring to a new level, ensuring accurate computing during movement. This technology is a game-changer for patients and clinicians alike, and it’s rewarding to know it can make a real difference in people’s lives.”
This patent strengthens RHI’s leadership in delivering precise vital sign measurements through advanced sensor fusion, setting a new standard for wearable health technology. For more information about Rajant Health’s latest advancements, visit Rajant.com.
