ATLANTA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Mercedes-Benz announced today it will establish Atlanta as the company’s headquarters in North America by moving additional corporate roles to the company’s 1MB facility in Sandy Springs, Ga. from Farmington Hills, Mich. The company is also making a multi-million dollar investment in a state-of-the-art Research & Development hub in Metro Atlanta for technical teams from various U.S. locations. The move of up to 500 roles further expands Mercedes-Benz’s longstanding presence in the Atlanta area.
“We thank the State of Georgia for its support in deepening Mercedes-Benz’s roots in the Atlanta area as we bring even more talented team members to this world-class city. This strengthens our position for continued growth and reinforces our established commitment to the U.S. market. Bringing our teams closer together will enable us to be more agile, increase speed to market and ensure the best customer experience.”
Jason Hoff, CEO, Mercedes-Benz North America
Mercedes-Benz opened its 1MB facility in 2018 and has been an integral part of the Atlanta community. Currently, there are approximately 800 Mercedes-Benz employees in Atlanta, and with today’s announcement, up to 500 additional roles will move to Georgia. The move is expected to be completed by August 2026.
“Georgia continues to lead the way in the future of mobility and technical innovation, attracting world-class companies like Mercedes-Benz that are driving the automotive industry forward. We’re excited that a job creator that already has close ties to Georgia is doubling down on that choice and growing their presence here in the best state for business and opportunity.”
Brian Kemp, Governor of the State of Georgia
As part of a broader strategy to enhance its focus on both product excellence and customer experience, Mercedes-Benz is co-locating its Research & Development and customer lifecycle-focused activities in the U.S. Specifically, financial services teams and corporate functions based in Farmington Hills will be co-located with current sales teams in Sandy Springs. Technical teams from various U.S. locations will move to a new Research & Development hub near Sandy Springs. This strategic investment in the Atlanta region will also allow the company to leverage the rich engineering talent pool around institutions like Georgia Institute of Technology and create new opportunities to collaborate with the region’s thriving startup ecosystem and established tech sectors.
