#AMAPresenta: Conversación Milton Afanador

Los invitamos a una charla con el artista colombiano Milton Afanador, como parte de nuestro programa #AMAPresents / #AMAPresenta, un espacio virtual del Museo de Arte de las Américas enfocado en charlas con artistas, visitas a estudios, presentaciones de libros, video y arte performativo.

Durante esta conversación conoceremos sobre la obra y carrera de este artista Colombiano de Bucaramanga, Santander quien se desempeña como artista visual, docente, performer, creador y productor de proyectos colectivos. Hablaremos sobre el estado del arte contemporáneo en Colombia y la proliferación de núcleos colectivos en la región. Afanador está interesado en difundir el arte a través de la enseñanza; cree firmemente que la cultura y la educación sensible en artes es de todos y aún más de los más jóvenes, quienes, como esponjas, absorben imágenes.

Afanador Alvarado nació en Bucaramanga, Colombia. Tiene una Maestría en Bellas Artes de la Universidad Industrial de Santander. Su tesis, 100% Americano fue nominada y ganó el premio Otto de Greiff al mejor proyecto. Actualmente esta cruzando una Maestría en Estudios Culturales en la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. En 2006 participó en el 40º Salón Nacional de Artistas y en el 11º Salón Regional en preparación para una beca en México. Motivado por esta experiencia, realizó estudios en Medios y Tecnologías en Argentina. Como miembro del colectivo Por Ahora, organizó programas y exposiciones en Santander, Colombia. En 2012 se incorporó al colectivo SEU2 y recibió una beca para viajar al festival de artes escénicas Zone-action en Argentina. Recibió la beca del Programa Departamental de Artística de Santander y participó en el Festepe festival de teatro y performance de Chancay- Perú, 2013. Participó en el festival internacional de performance Atos em ações e INTERVENÇÕES, Brasil, 2013 y en EPI, International Performance Independent, Chile. En 2016 participó en la II Bienal de Artes de Bucaramanga. Ese mismo año comenzó a desempeñarse como catedrático de universidad. En 2017 fue seleccionado como miembro del South Goethe Institute, International Academy of Performing Arts.

We invite you to a conversation with Colombian artist Milton Afanador as part of our #AMAPresents / #AMAPresenta program, a virtual space of the Art Museum of the Americas focusing on talks with artists, studio visits, book presentations, video and performance art.

During this conversation, we will learn about the work and career of this Colombian artist from Bucaramanga, Santander who works as a visual artist, teacher, performer, creator, and producer of collective projects. We will talk about the state of contemporary art in Colombia and the proliferation of collective centers in the region. Afanador is interested in spreading art through teaching. He firmly believes that culture and arts education belong to everyone, perhaps even more so to the youngest, who absorb images like sponges.

Afanador Alvarado was born in Bucaramanga, Colombia. He has an MFA from the Industrial University of Santander. His thesis 100% American won the Otto de Greiff Award for Best Project. He is currently pursuing a Masters in Cultural Studies at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. In 2006 he participated in the 40th National Hall of Artists and the 11th Regional Hall in preparation for a scholarship in Mexico.
