Political analysts and Latino Leaders are ready to discuss. GMU Professor Michael McDonald to Release New Poll of Virginia Latino Voters.
Washington, DC – In key swing states like Virginia and at the national level, Latino and new citizen voters are changing politics. While they care about the same issues as all Americans, they have a unique and personal connection to the immigration debate that shapes their political views.
This Monday, October 15th from 12pm-1:30 p.m. ET, local and national political analysts and Latino leaders will discuss the politics of immigration and the Latino vote in a live-streamed event held in the Student Union Room 3A at George Mason University.
At this event, co-sponsored by the Department of Public and International Affairs and the Middle East Studies Program, GMU associate professor Michael McDonald will release fresh polling of Latino voters in Virginia and a diverse panel of experts will analyze the findings and assess the way the presidential, Senate, and House candidates have handled the issue during their campaigns.
Can Mitt Romney overcome his hardline immigration positions and meet his campaign’s ambitious goal of 38% of the Latino vote, in Nevada and nationwide?
Can Barack Obama energize and mobilize the Latino and immigrant community here and across the country?
How will Latino voters and the issue of immigration reform impact the Virginia Senate race?
These and other questions will be probed by a range of experts on the panel, drawing upon the findings from brand-new polling of Virginia Latinos.
