Washington, D.C [CapitalWirePR] – GALA Hispanic Theatre continues its 37th season with the Washington, DC premiere of Entrada Gratis, written and performed by Colombian Saulo García, one of the hemisphere’s most popular comedians and social commentators. García returns to the GALA stage after sold out performances last season with the biting La vida en los Esclavos Unidos. Directed by Yoshvani Medina, Entrada Gratis is an uproarious piece that will be presented only in Spanish on December 8, 2012 at 8 pm at GALA Theatre, 3333 14th Street, NW. A post-performance discussion with the artist will follow each evening’s presentation.
With piercing humor, Entrada Gratis ventures from political satire to an absurdist dramatic landscape. Audiences will be rolling in the aisles with laughter as García touches on politics, marital lies, song lyrics, wakes, and parent-teenager relationships. His unique comic spin and keen observations provoke audiences to think about social and human behavior.
Saulo García is a performer and writer from Colombia who resides in Miami, Florida. Among his solo productions are El insomonio Americano, Al fondo a la derecha and La vida en los Esclavos Unidos. He has toured throughout Colombia, Canada and the United States, including New York, California, Texas, Florida, New Jersey, Nevada, South Carolina and Virginia. Mr. García began his career in Colombia appearing with Germán Carvajal in Los Marinillos. In the United States, he was a member of Los Bueyes del Norte in the program Los Metiches on Univision, and he was a writer and composer for El Gordo y La Flaca. On radio, he was the director of the program La Vaca Loca on RCN Radio Internacional and also was on De Regreso a Casa on Caracol Radio. He is the recipient of several awards, including the 2001 Premio Orquídea and the 2011 ACE Award in New York for his performance in La vida en los Esclavos Unidos.
