The event this week brought together officials, members of the diplomatic community, journalists and Argentine community living in Washington.
In her opening remarks the Ambassador thanked REP for his presence: “It is an honor to have a leading figure in the Argentine culture with us” and for the mural on which he worked in-situ for four days, “that renews the presence of contemporary Argentine artists in the Embassy”.
“The mural we unveil today reflects many aspects of our ‘Argentine self’, of the diversity and richness of our culture, our identity and our territory, including our Islas Malvinas”, she expressed, and invited those present to discover and enjoy the mural.
REP referred to this exhibit “Bellas Artes”, which includes 71 drawings and was recently exhibited in the National Museum of Arts in Argentina and has also travelled around the world. “Recently exhibited in New York, today the exhibit arrives in Washington,  “an homage to the history of art, that speaks about beauty, from the Stone Age up to the present time” he said. And presented the exhibit as “a viewpoint from the South, far from the centers, from an Argentine, from humor”.
Miguel Repiso (REP) is an Argentine artist and cartoonist. He is the author of more than thirty books, among them Bellas Artes, Buenos Aires Dibujada, Postales, Contratapas and 200 años de Peronismo.
