Fable Joins Everand, a Scribd, Inc. Company, to Create the Future of Social Reading

A new chapter begins as two reader-first platforms team up to connect stories and community.

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Everand, a Scribd, Inc. company, today announces that Fable – the beloved social reading app known for its vibrant community-powered book clubs and features that promote healthy reading habits, including streaks, stats and progress tracking – is joining the Everand family.

Both companies built by readers, for readers, Everand and Fable share a common belief: that books have the power to inspire, connect, and transform. This union brings together two complementary experiences – Everand’s expansive digital library and Fable’s deeply social reading environment – to create a more meaningful, more human future for reading.

Fable has become a go-to destination for readers who want more than just access to books: to connect, share, and grow through the stories they love. With one hundred thousand active book clubs led by authors, BookTokkers, celebrities, and passionate readers, Fable brings a powerful sense of connection to the reading experience.

Everand is a premium digital reading subscription that offers millions of audiobooks and ebooks, including bestsellers, new releases, and trending titles, all in one place. With powerful discovery tools and personalized recommendations, Everand empowers readers to find and devour their next favorite book.

“From the beginning, Fable has been guided by a simple but powerful mission: to bring people closer together with meaningful connections through the joy of stories. We’ve built something special as a small independent company competing in a space dominated by tech giants, and our community is at the heart of everything we do. Today, we’re taking the next step in our journey by uniting with Everand – another small-but-mighty, reader-obsessed company that shares our vision, our deep love of books and the people who read them,” said Fable founder and CEO Padmasree Warrior.

Both products will continue to offer the same access and experience readers know and love: Fable’s curated book clubs, “For You” feed, goal-setting tools, progress tracking, and Everand’s expansive catalog of millions of audiobooks and ebooks.

Subscription models for both platforms will remain in place, with Everand’s Standard and Plus tiers – offering one and three monthly unlocks – alongside Fable’s Fable Plus, which enhances a reading experience with additional tools and deeper insights into reading habits. Fable will also continue to offer a catalog of ebooks available for individual purchase. Over time, Fable will benefit from Everand’s resources and the operational stability that comes from being part of Scribd, Inc., a privately-held company with over 18 years experience, to further enhance its community-first features as both teams explore thoughtful opportunities to evolve the reading experience together.

“We believe great storytelling is about more than what’s on the page – it’s about how it brings people together. That’s what makes Fable such an incredible fit. Padma and her team have built a passionate, values-driven platform that aligns perfectly with our vision for Everand. This partnership is about amplifying what both teams do best, while staying true to the people we serve: readers. I’m excited about our combined future and the impact we will make in offering a reading experience rooted in connection and purpose,” said Tony Grimminck, CEO of Scribd, Inc.

For publishers, the combination of Everand and Fable offers a powerful new opportunity to reach engaged audiences. Working together, the two platforms support the full reader journey – from discovery to consumption to community-driven recommendation – delivering sustained exposure and deeper re-engagement across titles, series and author catalogs.

All Fable employees will join Scribd, Inc. as of deal signing, with Tony Grimminck continuing as CEO and Padmasree Warrior transitioning to an advisory role.
