The Latino Student Fund Receives Community Impact Grant

The Latino Student Fund announced that it was awarded a $10,000 Community Impact Grant from New York Life to support their Tutoring Program.
“We are grateful for New York Life’s investment in this program, which will have a lasting effect on the entire community,” said Maria Fernanda Borja, executive director of the Latino Student Fund. “New York Life’s commitment has helped us serve many people in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.
“New York Life strongly encourages our employees to give their time and talents to help make a difference in our community,” said Carlos Vasquez, senior partner of the company’s Greater Washington General Office.
The Community Impact Grant program awards grants of up to $25,000 to local nonprofit organizations which address the needs of the community and are supported by New York Life agents and employees. Two hundred thirty-six grants totaling more than $2.8 million have been awarded since the program’s inception in 2008.
The Latino Student Fund’s mission is to provide opportunities for a strong academic foundation for PreK-12th grade students of Hispanic descent to promote higher education and professional leadership. The Tutoring Program was founded in 1998 to provide supplemental academic support to at-risk and underprivileged Latino youth. www.latinostudentfund.org
