$18 Million Investment Will Bring Nation’s Fastest Major ISP to Another Colorado City
EVANSVILLE, Ind.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Metronet, acclaimed by PCMag as the nation’s fastest major ISP, today announced its privately funded $18 million build plan for a state-of-the-art fiber-optic network in Thornton, Colo. The master fiber license agreement was approved by Thornton’s city council last week, allowing the nation’s fastest growing fiber provider to continue its Colorado expansion, bringing multigigabit internet speeds to homes and businesses in another Colorado community.
Metronet plans to break ground on Thornton’s digital infrastructure immediately, with the first customers expected to gain 100% fiber-optic internet service by fall. As Metronet constructs its network throughout Thornton, more residents will gain access to symmetrical upload and download speeds of up to five gigabits per second, and businesses will gain speeds up to ten gigabits per second.
“We are excited to welcome Thornton to Metronet’s expanding Colorado network,” said Jill Cordes, a vice president with Metronet. “Here’s a preview of what Thornton can expect: In nearby Colorado Springs, Metronet is in the middle of building a fiber-optic network. But it has already been named the top-rated ISP in the city for the second half of 2024 by Ookla Speedtest. We can’t wait to bring provider choice to the homes and businesses of Thornton.”
Residents and businesses interested in Metronet’s services can visit metronet.com/co/thornton to sign up for pre-sale and to see construction updates.
Metronet will connect Thornton residents and businesses to some of the fastest internet speeds in the nation. With symmetrical upload and download speeds, users will enjoy a seamless online experience, improving video conferencing, streaming, gaming, and more.
With construction beginning immediately, Thornton residents will begin to see Metronet trucks in the area. Residents will receive communication by mail about construction activity in their neighborhood 30 days prior to the start date. Additional notifications, such as yard signs, will also inform residents of upcoming construction. Metronet crews will be identifiable by ID tags and branded vehicles.
