Mixlab Appoints Healthcare Operations Veteran as First Chief Operating Officer to Support National Expansion

Leading pet pharmacy platform also adds SVP of Sales and SVP of Marketing to support expansion into 49 states and 2,700 cities

NEW YORK & LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Mixlab, the veterinarian-partnered pet pharmacy and leader in pet health and wellness, today announced the appointment of 15-year healthcare operations veteran, George Koveos, as Chief Operating Officer to oversee the company’s accelerated growth. Based in New York and Los Angeles, Mixlab has expanded to 2,700 cities across 49 states, with customers and prescriptions consistently growing year-over-year since 2018.

“According to Morgan Stanley, the pet care industry is experiencing unprecedented growth as 11 million pets found a new home in the U.S. during the pandemic, and pet care spending is expected to increase 134% over the next decade,” said Fred Dijols, Co-founder and CEO of Mixlab. “These recent trends, in combination with veterinary staff shortages, are spurring demand for our services as we take care of enormous problems for veterinarians.”

By partnering with veterinarians and facilitating their workflows to deliver prescription and over-the-counter medications, Mixlab is poised to be the go-to leader for pet health and wellness across the nation. Mixlab provides convenient, reliable and delightful health experiences for pets and their parents while providing critical support for the veterinarians who care for them.

“We’ve made extraordinary progress by focusing on being a concierge service for veterinarians while providing pet parents the best possible experience,” added Dijols. “George and our new senior leaders join us at a pivotal moment bringing tremendous experience in growing revenue and leading operations of some of the most iconic brands. As Mixlab prepares for significant growth, we have an exceptional leadership team to hit our marks.”

George Koveos is a healthcare, wellness and retail brand operations expert. Koveos was previously the COO of Ro, a vertically-integrated healthcare platform combining human patient telemedicine with fulfillment, where he took the company through significant growth and a $5 billion valuation. He also led business units and operations at some of the nation’s leading brands including SoulCycle, Ralph Lauren and Gilt.com, after starting his career at McMaster-Carr. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tufts University.

Bob Betz joined as senior vice president, head of sales, and Libby Loskota as senior vice president, head of marketing. Betz brings two decades of experience in sales and marketing, including at Royal Canin, where he notably led the 300-person veterinary sales team. His primary focus is to drive revenue growth by building a world-class sales team and forming deep partnerships with veterinarians nationwide. Loskota has over a decade of experience leading marketing strategies for B2B hyper-growth companies, including TaskUs, where she ran the global marketing team. Loskota will lead Mixlab’s growth strategy through demand generation, customer engagement, brand positioning and new product expansion.
