The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) issued the following statement regarding the resignations of U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar and U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis:
“NALEO joins the President and the nation in thanking Secretaries Salazar and Solis for their years of public service and significant contributions to this country. Their leadership and initiatives will have a lasting impact on all Americans, ensuring that their legacy continues long after they have departed the Administration.
“We call on the President to ensure that his Administration is fully reflective of the diversity of this great nation by appointing at least two Latinos to cabinet-level positions in his second term. We appreciate the President’s continued commitment to strengthening our democracy by fully engaging Latino voices and talents, and look forward to continuing to work with him and his cabinet members in the coming years.”
