STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — This Saturday,  Cesar Vargas, New York’s first undocumented attorney to be publicly admitted to the state bar, will officially launch his electoral campaign for Staten Island Borough President. Just last week, Mr. Vargas became a citizen after thirty years living in the United States.

To celebrate his heritage and resiliency of small businesses owned by immigrants, he will be launching his campaign in San Jeronimo Mexican restaurant in Port Richmond, which has become the home of a growing Mexican community on Staten Island.

Vargas’ citizenship marks the culmination of a remarkable, nearly three-decades-long journey from undocumented immigrant to trail-blazing attorney, U.S. Soldier and national activist for immigration reform.

The launch will be available on Facebook Live as well as open to a small group of guests and press but will be in compliance with the state’s recent guidance of 35% indoor dining capacity.
