Oticon Names Finalists for the 24th Annual Oticon Focus on People Awards

Voting is now open for the awards program recognizing inspiring individuals with hearing loss

SOMERSET, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#FOP–Hearing aid manufacturer Oticon, Inc. has announced the names of 12 finalists for the 2022 Oticon Focus on People Awards. The national awards program honors exceptional students, advocates, adults, and practitioners who are making a positive impact on the hearing loss community. Voting is now open online and will continue through November 4.

Now in its 24th year, the Focus on People Awards have recognized more than 325 outstanding individuals as part of Oticon’s mission to spread awareness, create opportunity, and deliver life-changing technology that elevates the lives of people with hearing loss. Oticon is proud to honor outstanding individuals who embody the fact that hearing loss does not limit a person’s ability to make a positive difference in their families, communities, or the world.

This year’s finalists are distinguished students, adults, and health care professionals who go above and beyond to empower and inspire others and serve as a force for good in their communities. The 2022 Focus on People Award finalists are:

  • Student: Mercy Botchway of Everett, Massachusetts; Erin Cembrale of Dunedin, Florida; Lauren Harris of Knoxville, Tennessee
  • Adult: Shirley Forpe of Palatine, Illinois; Zina Jawadi of Los Altos Hills, California; Meaghan Thomas of Nashville, Tennessee
  • Advocacy: Shanna Groves of Olathe, Kansas; Renee Polanco Lucero, Ph.D., of Culver City, California; Gregory Scott of New York, New York
  • Practitioner: Jamie Marotto, AuD, of Fairfield, Connecticut; Mary L. Frintner, AuD, of Burbank, California; Dawn Heiman, AuD, of Woodridge, Illinois
