Temporary Museum Provides Cultural Perspective on Deportations and Immigration Reform.
What: No More Deportation Art Exhibit and Concert
Where: Freedom Plaza (14th & Pennsylvania NW) Washington, DC
When: Opening Press Conference at 9:30am Monday the 22nd, exhibit closes Thursday the 25th at 2:00pm
Concert will be Wednesday the 24 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm
Chicano, Latino, and undocumented artists’ work will be on display in an outdoor exhibit curated by the National Day Laborer Organizing Network with support from the Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs.
As Congress debates reform, the #Not1More Deportation exhibit collects poster art and photography from the immigrant rights movement in Arizona and around the country in order to show the human cost of deportations and offer a cultural approach to discussing the issue.
On Wednesday the 24th at 5:00pm DC musical sensations Son Cosita Seria, Los Gallos, Nueva Cosecha, Anexo Social will perform at the exhibit on Freedom Plaza for free concert and night of cultural celebration.
The unique exhibit coincides with a national gathering of people who are themselves facing deportation who have come to the capital to seek relief.
