Prominent Leaders Will Join Congressman Luis Gutierrez to Discuss on Immigration

They will discuss the impact of the immigration crisis on women and girls during women’s Equality Day.

Chantilly, Virginia – This Monday, a lunchtime panel discussion will explore the particularly harmful impact of the immigration crisis on women and girls in the United States.
Speakers will include service providers, immigrant women, and Congressman Luis Gutierrez (IL 4), nationally known for his work to pass reform legislation and lift up the voices of families that have been separated.
Congressman Frank Wolf  (VA 10) in whose district the event is being held, has been invited to attend.
The panel is held on Women’s Equality Day, which commemorates the day in 1920 when the 19th amendment was certified first allowing women the right to vote.  Organizations across the country are holding events on August 26 to ensure that the needs of women and girls are front and center in any debate about immigration reform.
These events are coordinated by We Belong Together, a national campaign to engage women in immigration reform and to ensure that any reform that is passed is fair and inclusive to women.
