We just wrapped up an incredible delegation led by and for Salvadorans in the diaspora – what a whirlwind!
After meeting with inspiring leaders from the environmental, feminist, student, LGBT, and indigenous movements, the delegates marched alongside students at the University of El Salvador during the annual commemoration of the 1975 student massacre in a powerful display of cross-border unity and solidarity.
They also made a splash in the Salvadoran news to denounce the right-wing’s latest threat to privatize water and to officially launch our international signature drive (Sign here if you haven’t already!).

Popular movement organizing is also starting to coalesce against a proposal to create «special economic zones» to attract foreign investment along the southeastern coast, a model the United States government, international financial institutions like the Inter-American Development Bank, transnational corporations and local elites throughout Central America have been pushing for years.
However, some of the Salvadoran government’s negotiations with possible investors have thrown the U.S. Embassy for a loop, as we dug into in our latest report for Upside Down World.
