Senator Sanders Bringing Dreamer to State of the Union

WASHINGTON, Jan. 30 – Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) announced Tuesdaythat he will bring Luis Alcauter, a Dreamer who worked on Sanders’ presidential campaign, to the State of the Union address.

Luis’ family brought him to the United States when he was 13 from Mexico. He graduated high school with honors and went to college at Fresno State University. He is now the vice president of Solidarity Strategies. Luis’ DACA permit expires in October.

«Luis is not a statistic or a number. He is certainly not a bargaining chip in budget negotiations. He is a real flesh and blood human being, along with 800,000 other young people, who deserves our support,» Sanders said. «We cannot abandon Luis and all the other Dreamers who are doing enormous good for our country.»
