Special Concert this Weekend: Los Guaraguao and Los Torogoces!

There is a very special event happening this Saturday, Feb 11th! Los Guaraguao from Venezuela and Los Torogoces de Morazán, two of the most emblematic popular music groups in Latin America will be performing here in the DC area in a big Concert for Peace to commemorate 80 years since the 1932 genocide and 20 years since the signing of the Peace Accords.

Los Torogoces de Morazán, a band that was formed by guerrilla combatants in the rural state of Morazán,  were one of the “musical expressions of the Salvadoran revolution,” keeping the people’s spirits high during what proved to be a long battle against the Salvadoran military and the U.S.

This is the FIRST time Los Torogoces will be playing in the US, traveling from Morazán to their sister city of Montgomery County!

Check out this special video invitation from Los Guaraguao, a Venezuelan band who joined in solidarity with the Salvadoran people and whose songs, like” Sombrero Azul” and “Orgulloso de Ser Salvadoreño” continue to inspire the struggle in El Salvador and here in the US! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N73R-kKGmzI

Please join us if you can! Saturday, February 11 at 7 pm – Langley Park Boys and Girls Club (1515 Merrimac Drive, Langley, MD 20783) Tickets are $45 at the door.

Truly a once in a lifetime opportunity!

IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT SATURDAY, please let me know. There may be an opportunity to hear Los Torogoces and Los Gauraguao on Sunday night (2/12) here in Washington, DC – please let me know and I can send you the details: (202) 521-2510 ext. 205 or alexis@cispes.org
