UHSM Celebrates World Gratitude Day

Healthsharing ministry shares helpful practices for developing gratitude to overcome the negative effects of the pandemic on mental health

NORFOLK, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Unite Health Share Ministries™ (UHSM), a nonprofit, faith-based healthcare sharing ministry supporting Christian believers through member-to-member healthcare sharing memberships, celebrates World Gratitude Day Wednesday, September 21st, by sharing the benefits of practicing gratitude and providing resources its members can use to develop an attitude of gratitude.

“We want to motivate our members to give thanks in all circumstances to improve their overall well-being,” said Christopher Jin, UHSM president. “As a healthshare ministry, we want to encourage healthy lifestyle behaviors, including mental health. An attitude of gratitude can lead our members to a healthier mind, body and soul.”

The pandemic took a massive toll on mental health, with one study of over 11 million people showing a 60% increase in disorders like anxiety and depression. Thankfully, research shows that regularly practicing gratitude benefits one’s overall health and well-being. Likewise, being thankful can foster mental and emotional resilience, improve self-esteem and boost empathy. With this backdrop, UHSM is encouraging its members to participate in regular prayer, journaling and volunteering as ways to express gratitude beyond World Gratitude Day.

“At UHSM, we offer our members tools and assistance to overcome mental health issues,” said Christopher Jin. “Health insurance companies typically don’t encourage a habit like gratitude to promote mental health. However, our healthshare ministries are set apart from other health insurance – we care equally about our members’ mental, physical and spiritual well-being.”

UHSM promotes the Mind, Body and Spiritual connection, the trinity of health, to inspire and improve the lives of its members and for people looking for an alternative and more holistic approach to traditional healthcare. In addition to ongoing wellness education and community tips, UHSM offers mind, body and spiritual perks with these free services for members, including Noom, Fitbod and Pray.com.

UHSM encourages its members to celebrate World Gratitude Day by applying and sharing the tips found in its latest blog.
