Upcoming Virginia Community Forums on DAPA/DACA expansion

Last week, a Texas Federal Judge issued a temporary stay that temporarily halted the implementation of the Obama administration’s executive orders concerning the DAPA and DACA expansion programs that could help as many as five million come out of the shadows and live and work without the fear of deportation.
Although the Texas decision has left immigrant communities again in a state of uncertainty, the good news is that the Obama administration is seeking to overturn the stay and allow the administration and our communities to move forward with the programs.
As their case moves through the legal process, it is important for our communities to be proactive and continue preparing ourselves for the application process by gathering the necessary documents we will need to prove our eligibility for either program.
In support of this effort, we will be holding several forums in Spanish to discuss the requirements of the DAPA/DACA expansion as well as to discuss the state of the pending litigation in the 5th Circuit.
They will also be hosting a conference call in English on March 3rdto discuss the status of the litigation in the 5th Circuit.

The issues that will be discussed are:
ü  The temporary stay of implementation of DACA/DAPA in the court
ü  Details about eligibility requirements for both programs
ü  Getting Ready for DACA & DAPA implementation
ü  Why it is important to keep preparing ourselves for the application process
ü  Eligibility requirements for DACA & DAPA and benefits, including Drivers License, work permit, and SSN
ü  How to protect ourselves from notary fraud during the application process and how to report a case of fraud to Virginia authorities
