VAHCC Kicks-Off Hispanic Heritage Month with the Hispanic Gala

Richmond, VA[CapitalWirePR]– Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15th – October 15th) will officially start inVirginia on September 12th with the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s annual “Hispanic Gala” in theCapitalCity at the Science Museum of Virginia.

The Hispanic Gala highlights the outstanding achievements of Hispanics who will receive the prestigious “Bridge Builder Award.”  Notable among this year’s recipients are Hilda Solis,USSecretary of Labor.  Headlining the event is the Honorable Robert F. McDonnell, Governor.  WithVirginia’s important role in the 2012 Election, the Chamber is honored to host both George Allen and Tim Kaine.

The Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is grateful to Dominion, and other sponsors, who support the Chamber’s efforts and programs.  “For the fourth year, Dominion is privileged to be the Title Sponsor of the annual Hispanic Gala,” said Virginia M. Board, managing director of Community Affairs and president of The Dominion Foundation. “Being a part of an event that recognizes the important contributions of Hispanic Americans in our community pairs well with Dominion’s commitment to diversity not only in the workplace, but in the business community at large.”

Now in its 9th year, The Hispanic Gala expects 700 attendees, including ambassadors, governors of Virginia, elected officials, entrepreneurs, and business leaders.  The elaborate evening will begin with a cocktail reception followed by a four-course gourmet meal, entertaining performances by the Latin Ballet of Virginia, music and dancing.

Past Bridge Builder Award recipients include Emmy Award-winner John Quiñones, former Mexican President Vicente Fox, and U.S. Cabinet members Carlos M. Gutierrez and Anna Escobedo Cabral, along with many others.
