With help from The Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs in the District of Columbia, nonprofit performing arts organization Teatro de la Luna is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with students at Raymond Educational Campus and H.D. Cooke Elementary School in Washington DC. Students at these schools are going to enjoy SIEMPRE AMIGOS/BUDDIES NOT BULLIES, a bilingual play that teaches the virtues of being buddies and the damage that comes from bullying. Back to back performances will take place at Raymond Educational Campus on September 29 at 1.15pm & 2pm and at H.D. Cooke Elementary School on October 16 at 9 am &10 am, respectively.
Another bilingual play, SANOS Y CONTENTOS/HAPPY AND HEALTHY will be performed at Petworth Market (Upshur & 9th Street, NW at Georgia Ave.) on October 3, and at Columbia Heights Farmers Market (14th Street and Park Road) on October 10. Both performances will start at 10 am and admission is free, thanks to the Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs –OLA. In this play Ms. Lettuce and her uncle Mr. Cucumber teach us that we can fight the evil Ms. Laziness discovering the world of good nutrition that, along with exercise, allows us to live happily and healthfully.
Since 1991 Teatro de la Luna has worked to promote Hispanic culture and foster cross-cultural understanding between the Spanish- and English-speaking communities.
