The Justice Department is suing Walmart for its role in fueling the country’s opioid epidemic.
The lawsuit accuses Walmart of filling thousands of invalid prescriptions, failing to report “suspicious” opioid prescriptions, and pressuring employees to fill orders quickly, even when they were not written for valid medical purposes.
Some 450,000 people have died from opioid overdoses in the past 20 years.
