Dreamers from Virginia Respond to Judge Hanen’s Ruling of a Preliminary Injunction on DACA, DAPA

This lawsuit is another political stunt geared to scare away immigrants and their families from applying for deportation relief, but our community will win, said the organizers.

Falls Church, Virginia  – Yesterday Texas District Court Judge Andrew Hanen provided a ruling on a lawsuit put forward by 26 states and issued an injunction on deferred action for immigrant youth (DACA) and undocumented parents of U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents (DAPA), temporarily blocking the application process and deportation relief for millions of immigrants.

Dreamers of Virginia.
Dreamers of Virginia.

Jose Caceres, leader with Dreamers of Virginia an affiliate of United We Dream issued the following statement:
“We’re here today to tell our community, to tell our parents, many of whom will now be able to be protected from deportation that the best way we can fight back is to continue getting ready for DACA and DAPA and to immediately apply when the time comes.
We are confident that the court system will reject this lawsuit since it has no legal merit and only wastes taxpayer dollars, disenfranchises immigrant workers and families, and robs much needed revenue from state economies.”
