President Obama Signs Workforce Development Bill into Law

Bill Encourages Workforce Training and Immigrant Integration.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Earlier this Tuesday, President Barack Obama signed into law the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, which passed both the House and the Senate with overwhelming bipartisan support.

The law will help prepare adults and youth for available jobs and careers by equipping them with the language, education and training skills and opportunities they need to fully integrate into the American workforce.

“This law is good for both business and workers. It supports giving adults and youth, including immigrants, the basic skills they need for 21st century jobs that are responsive to the needs of businesses,” said Ali Noorani, Executive Director of the National Immigration Forum.

“It will help them succeed and contribute to our nation’s communities and economy to the fullest.

“The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act will help prepare Americans to compete in today’s economy,” Noorani continued.

“For America to succeed, new Americans must have the opportunities, skills and status to reach their fullest potential.”
