Washington, D.C. [CapitalWirePR] February 13, 2014 – The District of Columbia Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs, in collaboration with ACADA and the Afro-Latino Alliance, will host two public programs during Black History Month focused on Afro-Latinos.
The first program will be an interactive public forum that will include a panel of experts addressing issues that impact the Afro-Latino community locally and globally. The second event will be an awards ceremony recognizing the contributions of Afro-Latinos and allies to the Washington metro area.
«The Office of the Mayor on Latino Affairs is very pleased to be part of these historical events. We recognize with great pride the numerous and significant contributions that Afro-Latinos have made to our area and we want to educate the large DC community of these contributions which have enriched the cultural and artistic landscape of our city,» said Roxana Olivas, Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs (OLA).
The first program is designed to make the larger DC community aware of the myriad challenging issues confronting the Afro-Latino community not only in the United States, but also throughout the Americas.

«AFRO LATINO RECOGNITION AWARDS CEREMONY:
