WASHINGTON, DC – In this 40th anniversary year, members of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) from across the country will travel to the nation’s capital to participate in the 2012 Advocacy Summit and Legislative Day.
This three-day event serves to further the HNBA’s legislative and policy priorities before Congress and executive branch officials. At the center of the organizations priorities are:
1) preserving access to legal services for low income individuals, 2) addressing judicial emergencies and diversity on the federal bench, 3) promoting DREAM Act legislation that will provide countless bright young students the opportunity to realize their higher education needs and fully participate in our society.
Participants will meet with Congressional leadership, participate in a White House briefing with senior administration officials and host a special gathering at the U.S. Supreme Court.
The Advocacy Summit will begin with an Opening Reception at the law firm of Jones Day, where U.S. Representative for the 18th District of Texas Sheila Jackson Lee will offer keynote remarks. The complete Advocacy Summit agenda is available on www.hnba.com.
