Lima, Jun. 04. People from Washington D.C. will have the opportunity to enjoy again the exquisite flavors of the coast, highlands and jungle of Peru during the upcoming second edition of Taste of Peru.
This gastronomic festival is scheduled for Sunday, June 8, 2014, at the University of the District of Columbia, Washington, D. C. 10:00 a.m – 6:00 p.m.
Supported by the Peruvian Gastronomy Association (Apega), the Embassy of Peru in the United States and Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Taste of Peru will showcase the gastronomic marvels of the Andean country including pachamanca, anticuchos and chancho al cilindro.
According to the event organizers, typical dishes will be prepared by renowned Peruvian chefs such as Darwin Santa Maria, Roger Arakaki, Jose del Castillo Vargas, Victor Albis. Over 3,000 people are expected to attend this culinary event.
Likewise, the inauguration will be attended by the ambassador of Peru in Washington, Harold Forsyth, who will give an special recognition to Teresa Ocampo, pioneer of the Andean nation’s gastronomic boom.
Taste of Peru – Washington D.C. is an annual gastronomical event in D.C. that celebrates the cultural influences and the creativity of Peruvian chefs across the United States. The event promotes the unique culinary perspectives of local and international chefs.
This is a ticketed event, and the price of the ticket, which is US$15, is for admission only. Each vendor will charge for food or products separately. Prices could be between $3-$10. Children under 10 are admitted free.
