We want to share an important project we’re working on that requires your support. In collaboration with Professor Nik Theodore of the University of Illinois Chicago, we’re conducting a study to shed light on the critical economic situation that undocumented migrant elders are facing in the United States.

The study will specifically survey undocumented Mexican immigrants over the age of 62 who live in the U.S (the survey is completely anonymous, we are not soliciting any personally identifying information). The data gathered from this survey will help us better understand the reality of aging undocumented migrants in this country and guide us in designing and implementing necessary programs and advocating for policies that will improve the lives of this segment of the population.

Millions of elderly migrant workers have given the best years of their lives working in the United States. They have been vital to our economy and their countries of origin, but many of them do not have access to Social Security, Medicare, or other safety net programs to support them as they enter into old age and are no longer able to work. This leaves our elderly migrant population at risk of negative health and economic consequences.

On our elders’ behalf, we are asking for your help to expand the reach of our survey. Can you please forward and share this survey with any person you know who meets the survey criteria?

We know there are obstacles in accessing and understanding how to use an online survey for this segment of the population, so your support is crucial in reaching them. You can also help us by sharing our post about this survey on Facebook.

With deep thanks and gratitude,
