New campaign demanding an «Unemployment Bridge Program»

We are very excited to share that recently NDLON, together with New York State member organizations and the Fund Excluded Workers Coalition, launched a new campaign demanding an «Unemployment Bridge Program.” It’s a call to action to bring permanent safety net protections to excluded workers across New York.

In the height of the pandemic, we fought together to win life-saving economic aid.  And today, NY’s excluded workers are sending a message to local, state, and national leaders: we cannot go back to exclusion as usual.

This new bill proposal aims to provide a permanent safety net for thousands of workers across NY State who are not able to access the regular unemployment program. If the legislation is passed, farm workers, day laborers, domestic workers, street vendors, freelancers and recently decarcerated workers will be able to qualify under this program — regardless of immigration status.

Please help us by sharing our campaign launch video via Facebook and Instagram and stay tuned as we will be sharing the next campaign launch event that took place in the city of Yonkers. Also, be sure to follow both Radio JornaleraRadio Jornalera NJ, and NDLON’s Facebook and Instagram accounts for future events and actions.

It’s a new call to action to advance the national fight for immigrant workers, from the bottom up!

In Solidarity,

Diana Sanchez
Regional Organizer, NDLON
