Waste Citizens is a multimedia piece that explores the waste and recycling industry, specifically, the Latino workers in the Waste disposal system. By telling the stories of a group of Latino workers in the garbage industry, I tried to portray how only Hispanic and African-Americans are the only ethnic groups that are willing to take these job positions. The reasons why they do these jobs may vary from pay, to the little supervision of legal documents to work.
Also, the importance to portray Hispanics, and how they risk their lives in such jobs, is one of the main reasons for me to show the inhuman labor conditions under which the these people work in a daily basis.
